Mouth-to-lung is the right draw for these devices
Draw the vapour into your mouth first, hold it briefly, then inhale. This is the same motion as a cigarette, and it is what draw-activated disposables are designed around. Pulling straight into the lungs the way you would on a large sub-ohm kit floods a small coil and tastes harsh.
Slow and gentle beats hard and fast
A soft two to three second draw produces more flavour than a hard one. Pulling harder does not deliver more vapour on a draw-activated device; it pulls liquid past the coil and can flood the airway, which is why some people get a droplet in the mouth.
Pause between puffs
The coil needs a few seconds to re-wick with liquid. Six or eight puffs back to back outrun the wicking and you get the dry, papery taste people describe as burnt — often on a device that is otherwise perfectly fine.
Wait fifteen to thirty seconds between puffs and the flavour stays clean for the life of the device.
Common beginner mistakes
- Chain vaping a new device in the first hour
- Running the battery flat before recharging
- Leaving a device in a hot car, which thins the liquid and causes leaks
- Storing it upside down or loose in a bag with the mouthpiece open
- Assuming harshness means the device is faulty when it is usually technique or charge
